Job summary

Coast Plaza Doctors Hospital is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner for night shift per diem, on-site in California. The RCP will provide comprehensive respiratory care, manage airways, operate ventilators, perform pulmonary tests, and collaborate with physicians to support patient plans of care.

Qualifications include California RCP licensure, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and a Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiovascular Technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiovascular Technology from an accredited institution.
• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) for state of California, required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.
• AB508 Workplace Violence Prevention (4 hour) due within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Manages artificial airways.
• Accurately document care given, the patient’s condition, and any observations using the appropriate forms.
• Conducts respiratory assessments and makes recommendations based on findings.
• Performs ventilator weaning parameters and makes recommendations.
• Notifies physician of significant changes in patient condition.
• Administers aerosolized liquids and medications.
• Monitors oxygen therapy.
• Performs spirometry and related tests.
• Delivers IPPB therapy.
• Operates respiratory equipment and maintains it.
• Assists with procedures such as C‑sections and infant ventilator setup.
• Draws blood gases and interprets results.
• Changes trach tubes and troubleshoots issues.
• Performs EKGs.
• Communicates clearly with patients and staff using AIDET and SBAR.
• Collaborates across disciplines for patient transfer, discharge, referrals.
• Maintains safety and HIPAA compliance.
