Job summary

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit on the Part-Time Night Shift. The role focuses on care for patients with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, stroke, and other complex conditions in a 12-hour night schedule (7 pm–7 am).

The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, ensure patient-centered care, and participate in ongoing education to support best practices in an acute inpatient rehabilitation setting.

Qualifications

• BSN is required/strongly preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of RN clinical experience.
• Licensed to practice as an RN in Virginia or eligible for licensure in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting data and identifying care needs.
• Develops individualized care plans based on assessment findings.
• Provides patient- and family-centered care and coordinates with the healthcare team.
• Advocates for patient rights and collaborates to resolve issues.
• Documents care activities accurately and supports quality outcomes.
• Participates in ongoing education to maintain clinical competencies.

Job Description

Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is seeking a Rehabilitation Registered Nurse to join the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit Part-Time Night Shift. This is an acute, inpatient rehab unit providing care to patients with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, post-cerebral vascular accidents, transplant, stroke and more.

Work schedule:12 hour shifts (7 pm - 7am)

The Registered Nurse

provides knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patients, families, nurses and healthcare delivery teams. Consistently provides safe and therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way while incorporating differences into the provision of care and conducting all patient care in a patient/family centered manner. Integrates knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others while having respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines. Determines processes for delivery of care from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration.

Job Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
• Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
• Conducts all patient care in a patient and family centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues
• Accesses resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinates healthcare and alternate services for patient/family transition planning
• Documents all patient care activities, as per documentation standards, and assists healthcare team members with documentation
• Evaluates the process to achieve outcomes, anticipates patient variances and makes revisions to plans of care
• Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data and intuition while promoting the development of clinical decision making of all team members
• Communicates effectively, works cooperatively with others, and has respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines
• Assists staff to assess patients' learning needs and outcomes measurement of patient education
• Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a clinical resource, preceptor, and mentor and delegates patient care activities and coordinates unit activities as needed
• Utilizes standards, guidelines and pathways for care delivery and ensures that the process for delivery of care is synthesized from direct patient/family communication, technology and other healthcare team member collaboration
• Demonstrates evidence of self-development by obtaining a minimum of six formal contact hours and maintains own Team Member Continuing Education Record
• Evaluates clinical and quality outcomes and contributes to performance improvement initiatives
• May perform additional duties as assigned

Registered Nurse Requirements

• Education:BSN from an accredited school of nursing If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date
• Experience:A minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse clinical experience. This position will consider RN's with LTC, Rehab, Home Health and Outpatient experience
• Certification:Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license.BLS from American Heart Association (AHA)

RN Rehab Preferred Qualifications

• prior Inpatient or sub-acute Rehabilitation nursing or Medical/Surgical; Med/Surg Tele unit experience.
