Job summary

Hydro Extrusion USA, LLC in Saint Augustine, FL is seeking a PLC Technician to perform laser-focused electrical and automation maintenance on production equipment. You will inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade PLC-based machinery and visit with engineering to implement start-up projects and improvements.

The role requires a minimum of 1 year PLC experience and 5 years in manufacturing, plus a high school diploma.

Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year related PLC experience and/or training.
Five years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
High-school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Computer literacy required.

Responsibilities

Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
Listen for and observe unusual sounds or operations to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variation with supervisors, operators, or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
Repair and maintain physical structure of the establishment.
Install, program, or repair automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
Install power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.
Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connect cables and wires between machines and equipment.
Diagnose malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires and cables.
Replace faulty electrical components of machines such as relays, switches, motors, and position‑sensing devices.
Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
Work with limited supervision.
Program equipment using buttons, keys, and PLC downloads to program automated machinery, operate automated machinery, test for malfunctions, and verify repairs.
Plan layout of wiring and install wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.
Act as liaison between the engineering team and maintenance for project design, installations, and start‑up.
Help maintain control of PLC programs and document any changes to programs.
Work safely by abiding by company safety policies, including personal protective equipment.
Program or modify programs for Siemens and Allen‑Bradley Drives.
Troubleshoot, make changes/modifications, and install upgrades to the current PLC programs.
Understand the complex equipment process / theory of operation and transfer that to machine PLC programs.
Mentor and train other maintenance technicians on troubleshooting and reading ladder logics behind PLCs.
Read and interpret schematics.
Specify materials and codes.
Support Continuous Reliability Improvement standards and practices through implemented predictive measures.
Other duties as assigned.
