Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Ability to read and write English to verify patient assignments and read labels when preparing cleaning solutions.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to be courteous to patients, visitors and staff during transporting and housekeeping tasks.
• Preferred one year on-the-job experience learning sanitation principles and hospital policies.

Responsibilities

• Login to Teletracking.
• Receive assignments and job requirements.
• Pick up patient chart and inform Nursing of transport.
• Complete Transport Communication Sheet.
• Utilize AIDET; introduce self and explain transport method and destination.
• Demonstrate safety precautions involving patient transport.
• Report arrival to destination, deliver patient chart, obtain signatures.
• Cleaning vacated patient areas; ensure linen is clean and area neat.
• Visually inspect area after cleaning for appropriate cleanliness.
• Be aware of hazards with oxygen; ensure label and designation.
• Ensure proper connection before initiating patient transport.
• Store oxygen tanks properly and use appropriate holders during transport.
• Use AIDET with every patient, visitor, and staff encounter.
• Promote hospital service standards and positive patient experience.
• Demonstrate competencies for the 7-step room cleaning procedure.
• Provide consistent performance and meet productivity standards.
