Job summary

The University of Mississippi Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Adult Acute Care in Trauma/Surgery on the Night Shift. The role provides direct patient care under RN supervision, monitors vital signs, assists with procedures, and maintains equipment and records.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with nursing aide training, CNA certification or approved externship, and BLS/CPR within 3 months post-hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient care including activities of daily living.
• Measure and report vital signs to the nurse or care team.
• Assist with procedures and treatments per policies and competencies.
• Transport specimens and assist with tests, procedures, and transfers.
• Support clinical staff with care activities and documentation.
• Perform point-of-care testing as assigned and maintain EHR documentation.
• Respond to call lights and communicate patient needs to the team.
• Maintain safe, clean patient environments and infection control practices.
• Assist with unit operations and stock supplies as needed.
• Serve as a resource to new staff and act as a preceptor when assigned.
