Job summary

Prisma Health's Surgical Stepdown Unit in Richland is seeking a patient care assistant to support a Registered Nurse with basic patient needs during the night shift. Responsibilities include personal hygiene assistance, feeding, ambulation, toileting, and vital signs documentation.

Qualified candidates have a nursing assistant, patient care tech, or CMA/Nursing Fundamentals course and a preferred high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Completion of Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant or Nursing Fundamentals course.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: nursing assistant or medical assistant related role; 1 year hospital clerical preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal hygiene tasks (bathing, washing hair, brushing teeth, washing hands).
• Assist with nutrition and feeding; set up meal trays and assist with feeding.
• Assist with ambulation and fall prevention under RN direction.
• Assist patients with elimination; help to bathroom, bedside commode, bedpan, urinal; monitor inputs/outputs.
• Take and document vital signs; report abnormal values to RN.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
