Job summary

UF Health Shands Homecare is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support Registered Nurses with routine procedures and deliver compassionate nursing assistance. The role operates full-time, 36 hours per week, on the 7:00pm–7:00am shift in Gainesville, FL.

Ideal candidates may be CNAs with a HS diploma and 1 year of patient care, EMT/Paramedic, or nursing students enrolled in a certified program, including those awaiting NCLEX. This position emphasizes patient advocacy and collaborative care.

Qualifications

• Licensed EMT or Paramedic; or CNA with high school diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of patient care experience in a clinical setting preferred
• Nursing student currently enrolled in an approved program for preparation of professional nurses or licensed practical nurses
• Current employees who have completed an approved nursing program and awaiting NCLEX authorization to test (up to 90 days post-graduation)
• Current employees who have completed an approved nursing program and have been unsuccessful in passing the NCLEX examination (up to 6 months post initial authorization to test)
• Junior and Senior High School Students attending a state approved CNA training program who are CNAs and have a recommendation from the instructor.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Registered Nurse with routine procedures under supervision.
• Provide nursing support to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and patient advocacy.
• Support patient care activities during the 7:00pm–7:00am shift.
