Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Laboratory Tech to join the Transfusion Services (Blood Bank) team on the full-time night shift. You will perform a variety of tests, interpret results, and ensure timely reporting to support patient care.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science, ASCP/AMT/AAB certification, and has experience in transfusion services. We offer sign-on bonuses, competitive pay, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Science, Physical Science, Biological Science, or Medical Laboratory Science required.
ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification required.
Previous Transfusion Services/Blood Bank experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory testing and analysis in Transfusion Services/Blood Bank.
Accurately interpret, document, and report test results.
Follow established laboratory policies, procedures, and quality control standards.
Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
Collaborate with pathologists, physicians, nurses, and laboratory team members to support patient care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities.
