Job summary

Children's Health seeks a Medical Lab Tech Scientist to join the Lab Microbiology team on a Friday-Sunday night shift. The role ensures specimen integrity, performs testing, reports results, and supports Lean process improvements while collaborating with clinicians.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or a related science, certification eligibility within 12 months, and at least 1 year of lab experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a science discipline is required, CLIA compliant.
• Must be certified or certification eligible within 12 months of hire, or comparable.
• At least 1 year of related lab work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine acceptability of specimens and perform tests with results reported per procedure.
• Recognize normal, abnormal and critical results; differentiate and resolve instrument issues.
• Adhere to Lean principles including 5S and standard work; support continuous process improvement.
• Initiate, perform, review and troubleshoot quality control of reagents and test systems.
• Maintain competency and perform tests to provide accurate results; document and communicate findings.
• Operate daily preventive maintenance of equipment and report malfunctions.
• Communicate critical results with physicians and nurses while ensuring confidentiality.
• Participate in inventory control and Lean-driven supply chain activities.
• Contribute to quality improvement projects and share insights with the team.
• Attend stand-up meetings, staff meetings, and Hospital Town Hall sessions.
