Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a senior night-shift leader to direct construction activities and total site operations on a major project in Clay, NY. You will oversee field engineering, procurement, finance, industrial relations, and related functions to deliver safety, quality, cost, schedule, and client satisfaction.

The role requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree with 15+ years (or 19+ years) of relevant experience and extensive EPC/EPCM leadership across large projects, including client relationship

• Salary Range: 153,600 - 234,300 annually (salary range is based on market data; final salary offered is determined by education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.)

Job Summary

In this role, you will provide overall leadership, management, and direction of project construction activities and total site operations during night shift for a major project or significant portion of a mega-project. You will oversee construction craft personnel, field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, finance and accounting, industrial relations, and other project support functions. Your leadership will ensure project operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements while achieving project objectives for safety, quality, cost, schedule, productivity, and client satisfaction.

Major Responsibilities

Leadership/Supervision

• Directs the organization and execution of construction and related activities for a major project or significant portion of a mega-project, including the activities of Bechtel personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and their representatives.
• Serves as the senior night shift representative and principal client contact for all field execution activities.
• Provides overall site leadership including oversight of construction craft personnel, field engineering, contract administration, project controls, field procurement, finance and accounting services, industrial relations, and professional staffing functions during night shift operations.
• Maintains senior-level client relationships and serves as the primary interface between project field operations and functional organizations.
• Directs project contractual activities and participates in development of contract strategies, subcontract formation, commercial negotiations, execution planning, and budget management.
• Establishes project execution priorities and resolves complex operational, technical, commercial, labor, and organizational issues affecting project performance.
• Leads workforce planning and organizational development initiatives to ensure effective staffing and succession planning for construction operations.
• Champions continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, quality, innovation, and execution excellence.

Safety & Quality

• Ensures development, implementation, and execution of the Project Automation Plan, Environmental Compliance Plan, safety plan, site survey plan, field professional staffing plan, subcontracting plan, labor strategy, Construction Execution Plan, and job-site work rules.
• Establishes and maintains procedures to ensure construction operations comply with engineering requirements, project specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
• Promotes and drives a zero-incident safety culture and ensures compliance with all environmental, safety, health, and quality requirements.
• Leads risk identification, mitigation planning, corrective action implementation, and lessons-learned programs to improve project performance and operational effectiveness.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrated ability to direct construction activities and related functions for large, complex projects or significant portions of mega-projects.
• Extensive leadership experience managing multidisciplinary construction organizations including construction, field engineering, project controls, procurement, contracts, industrial relations, and project support functions.
• Thorough understanding of Project Automation Plans, Environmental Compliance Plans, staffing plans, subcontracting strategies, labor strategies, Construction Execution Plans, and overall project execution processes.
• Proven ability to maintain strategic client relationships and serve as the senior field representative for major project activities.
• Strong commercial acumen with experience supporting contract strategy, negotiations, budget management, risk management, and project performance improvement initiatives.
• Demonstrated success leading construction organizations across multiple delivery models including EPC and EPCM.
• Excellent leadership, communication, collaboration, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• The ideal candidate has previous datacenter experience and has successfully led large construction organizations through multiple phases of project execution on EPC and EPCM projects.
