Job summary

Central Garden & Pet, Kaytee in Chilton, WI, is seeking a 3rd Shift Maintenance Technician to join the maintenance team. You will work on equipment installation, fabrication, and preventative maintenance in a safety-conscious environment with on-site wellness and medical benefits.

Responsibilities include repairing and maintaining production equipment, assisting with new installations, and ensuring safe operation of machinery.

Qualifications

Ability to work independently in a safe, efficient, and accurate manner.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines.
Ability to repair, dismantle, install or move machinery and mechanical equipment.
Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Knowledge of maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and systems.
Ability to test systems and/or operations in compliance with published standards.
Ability to accurately use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other related measuring tools.
Knowledge of inspecting and cleaning utility plant equipment.
Ability to work in elevated locations (elevator legs)
Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.

Responsibilities

Works closely with operators, Maintenance Supervisor, Shift Supervisors and other team members.
Follows established safety and environmental policies and procedures while promoting continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Dismantles, moves, installs, or repairs machinery and mechanical equipment.
Examines machinery or mechanical equipment; identifies reasons for malfunction and completes repairs and/or maintenance.
Uses hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments to repair and maintain production equipment and ancillary equipment.
Cleans plant facilities, equipment, and work areas as required.
Assist with installing new equipment and systems. Repairs and maintains current equipment and systems as needed.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
Follows established safety and environmental policies and procedures and promotes continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance in the workplace.
Performs special program tasks, such as annual and semi-annual PMP’s.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Responsible for reporting any Food Safety issues to authorized personnel for correction.
