Job summary

Alter Trading is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our South Beloit operations, starting at 4 PM on the night shift. You’ll maintain plant productivity by performing PMs, welding and fabrication on stationary equipment, and troubleshooting a range of heavy machinery in outdoor conditions.

The role requires prior maintenance experience on large equipment, welding skills, and the ability to lift 30–50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance experience on large equipment required.
• Welding and fabricating skills required (Stick and Mig).
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Familiarity with yard vehicles, forklifts and loaders a plus.
• Must be able to lift 30–50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant productivity by proactively managing maintenance functions.
• Welding and fabrication on stationary equipment.
• Perform PMs on downstream sorting lines, conveyors and machines.
• Diagnose and repair industrial equipment including shredders and mobile equipment.
• Work with hydraulic, pneumatic and electric systems, PLCs, valves, bearings and motors.
• Schedule maintenance with operations to ensure uptime.
• Prepare and maintain maintenance records and daily reports.
• Supervise and train maintenance staff as needed; assist with parts ordering.
