Job summary

Arizona Department of Veterans' Services seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse for the night shift at the Arizona State Veterans' Home in Flagstaff. The role runs 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend off, from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., in a facility dedicated to serving veterans.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practice.
• Ability to observe and report resident status and progress.
• Strong communication with residents, families, and staff.
• Familiarity with medication administration and treatments within scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Administers medication and treatments as ordered by physician.
• Observes and reports effectiveness of medications and treatments.
• Ensures supplies and medications are available.
• Receives and relays information about residents’ needs.
• Participates in shift reports and interdisciplinary care discussions.
• Trains and orients new staff and conducts in-service training.
