Chichester School District MARCUS HOOK ELEMENTARY is seeking a District Maintenance Custodian to join our team for the night shift.

Expected work hours are 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, with responsibilities including cleaning, building upkeep, and ensuring safety. Candidates should have a high school or trade degree preferred and be able to obtain required clearances; overtime is possible and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school or trade school diploma preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa requirement.
• Experience in custodial maintenance and building upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Clean rooms, hallways, restrooms and other areas to keep the school safe and clean.
• Maintain floors, carpets, furniture, windows and fixtures as required.
• Work the 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM shift and cover overtime as needed.
• Secure the building and follow safety guidelines when using cleaning agents.
• Assist with health and safety compliance and routine maintenance.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodian role focused on building upkeep. They will have the great physical endurance to cover areas and duties assigned. A keen eye for detail and diligence are also imperative in custodial maintenance jobs.

• Cleans rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms and other work areas.
• Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.

• Picks up refuse from school grounds
• Secures building.
• Adheres to all safety rules for handling and disposing of cleaning agents; including universal precautions and proper use of personal protection equipment. Individual is required to be familiar and follow guidelines for the use of safety equipment when operating power equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands or arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
