Job summary

Unisys is seeking a Linux/Unix Systems Administrator to manage development, test, and production servers in a 24x7 environment. You will patch, re-image, configure, and monitor systems, while diagnosing complex OS and service issues.

The role requires a BA/BS and 2–4 years of relevant experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and eligibility for U.S. citizenship. Shift is 6pm–6am EST, and you will participate in knowledge transfer and documentation efforts.

Responsibilities

• Administrates Linux/Unix development, test, and production servers, including reloading, re-imaging, patching, and configuration.
• Diagnoses and resolves complex Linux/Unix OS, service, and connectivity issues.
• Performs daily monitoring of systems and services; initiates proactive remediation.
• Installs, removes, and upgrades Linux/Unix packages using package managers.
• Owns Level 2 tickets through resolution and root cause analysis.
• Provides system evaluation reports and contributes to operational recommendations.
• Updates system records, licensing compliance, and maintains configuration data.
• Creates runbooks and guides; trains Level 1 analysts.

What success looks like in this role:

• Linux/Unix Systems Administration — Administers Linux/Unix development, test, and production servers including reloading, re-imaging, patching, configuration, and shell-level maintenance.
• Advanced Troubleshooting — Diagnoses and resolves complex Linux/Unix OS, service, and connectivity issues.
• Monitoring & Proactive Response — Performs daily monitoring of Linux/Unix systems, services, and performance; initiates proactive remediation.
• Software Management — Installs, removes, and upgrades Linux/Unix packages using native package managers (yum, apt, rpm, etc.).
• Incident Remediation — Owns Level 2 Linux/Unix-related tickets through resolution, including root cause analysis.
• Operational Reporting — Provides system evaluation reports and contributes to operational recommendations for Linux/Unix environments.
• Documentation & Compliance — Updates system records, ensures licensing compliance, and maintains accurate configuration data for Linux/Unix assets.
• Knowledge Transfer — Creates runbooks and how-to guides; trains Level 1 analysts on Linux/Unix procedures.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• BA/BS degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience OR equivalent combination.
• Strong experience with Linux/Unix troubleshooting and server administration.
• Ability to support 24×7 operations and rotating shifts.
• U.S. Citizenship and U.S. residency required.
• Shift: 6pm - 6am EST
