Job summary

Sonoco in Chatham, NY is seeking an Inspector Packer to assemble and label boxes, transfer products, and inspect items for spec conformance. You will use gauges, seal containers, and move pallets while adhering to safety rules.

The role requires basic math, reliable teamwork, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. 1–2 years of manufacturing experience is preferred; overtime may be required on the 3rd shift.

Qualifications

• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.

Responsibilities

• Make boxes with appropriate labels attached.
• Utilize hands, packing forks, and/or other methods to transfer product to appropriate package
• Inspect products for conformance to specifications.
• Utilize gauges to check basic dimensions or other specifications.
• Notify operator or supervisor when quality problems are detected.
• Discard product not meeting specifications.
• Seal containers and place on skid utilizing the box lifter.
• Performs duties in accordance with all safety rules and use safe work methods.
• Work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously as needed.
• Communicate with supervisors and peers while establishing and maintaining a constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
• Overtime required at times
