Job summary

Sonoco is seeking an Inspector Packer in Chatham, NY for third shift. You will assemble and label boxes, move products into packaging, and inspect for adherence to specifications, with alerts to supervision for any quality issues.

Training will cover product quality requirements, and overtime may be required to meet production needs. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliability, with opportunities to contribute to a hands‑on packaging operation in a longstanding manufacturing

Qualifications

• 1–2 years manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.
• Manual dexterity with both hands for packing.
• Ability to relate well to others and maintain effective working relationships.
• Good verbal and written communication; reliability, initiative and quality focus are essential.

Responsibilities

• Make boxes with labels attached.
• Transfer product to packaging using hands or packing forks.
• Inspect products for conformance to specifications.
• Use gauges to check basic dimensions and specifications.
• Notify supervisor when quality problems are detected.
• Discard products not meeting specifications.
• Seal containers and place on skid with box lifter.
• Follow safety rules and safe work methods.
• Communicate with supervisors and peers to maintain cooperation.
• Overtime may be required.
