Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist for a full-time, night-shift position in Virginia Beach, VA. The role emphasizes safe and prompt pharmacy services, with responsibility for the medication-use system and individualized patient care.

The pharmacist will manage drug therapy, ensure order appropriateness, stay current on medications, counsel patients, and contribute to staff training. BLS is required; ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required.
• Doctorate in Pharmacy preferred.
• Virginia Pharmacist License required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Hospital experience preferred.
• Residency training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages patient drug therapy per clinical practice standards.
• Ensures appropriateness of provider medication orders for high-quality care.
• Maintains current knowledge of medications and disease states relevant to the area.
• Serves as primary drug information resource and provides education.
• Provides in-depth patient counseling when required.
• Trains new employees as assigned.
• Assumes local ownership for tasks and follows policies.
