Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital’s Behavioral Health Unit in Norfolk, VA is recruiting a Mental Health Associate for full-time night shifts. The role involves direct and indirect patient care for adults in crisis, under RN supervision, with opportunities to lead groups and support a therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s level degree required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Crisis Prevention Intervention training within 15 days of hire.
One year of Behavioral Health work experience preferred.
Knowledge of basic medical terminology and abnormal human behavior.

Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect patient care for mental health patients under RN supervision.
Lead and co-facilitate educational and activity groups.
Assist with milieu management to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
Support delivery of nursing care through technical duties as assigned.
