Job summary

Friendsofkerhonkson is seeking a maintenance technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on heavy machinery and equipment on the warehouse floor. The role involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues, coordinating with external contractors, and ensuring safe, compliant operations.

The candidate should have 3–5 years in an industrial maintenance setting, a high school diploma or GED, and basic reading/writing in English with math and data-entry skills.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate mechanical and technical aptitude.
• 3-5 years experience in an industrial, maintenance environment.
• HS Diploma or GED; technical degree or certificate required.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
• Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, climb, reach and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to read and write English and perform basic math.
• Basic computer knowledge for data entry.
• Ability to use basic measurement instruments (tape measure, scales, gauges).
• Obtain and maintain current certification to operate material handling equipment (forklift, side-loader, 4-directional lift, cherry picker).
• Safety mindset.
• Weekend/shift work and night shift availability.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, and similar problems on machinery/equipment and perform timely repairs.
• Establish and perform regular preventive maintenance on all machinery/equipment.
• Perform facility/building maintenance and minor repairs and maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Dismantle defective machines/equipment and install new or repaired equipment.
• Coordinate and supervise outside contractors for mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance.
• Support health, safety, quality, and Lean initiatives and requirements.
• Wear PPE and maintain safe working conditions on the warehouse floor.
• Assist in any duties to support operations as requested by supervisor or manager.
