Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant Specialist I for the Environmental Services team. This full-time night-shift role involves comprehensive cleaning of operating rooms, patient rooms, public areas, and offices, with duties including equipment operation, bed tracking, and waste disposal.

You’ll work under the Environmental Services supervisor and support room turnover activities. Applicants should have a High School diploma or GED and 1–2 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand oral instructions.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• One to two years of housekeeping experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Vacuums carpeted surfaces and damp mops hard floors.
• Assist supervisor in orienting new housekeeping staff.
• Perform general and heavy cleaning in offices, patient rooms, labs, public areas and stairways.
• Operate cleaning equipment and hospital-approved chemicals; use ladders/scaffolds as needed.
• Maintain and restock supplies; report unsafe conditions or damaged fixtures.
• Log and track beds using Bed Tracking system: update statuses at shift start, progress, and end.
• Clean ORs and other areas as assigned; move and arrange furniture as required.
• Discard and dispose of waste according to protocols; ensure linens and trash handling.
