Job summary

The University of Toledo is seeking a Custodial Worker to maintain clean, safe environments across patient, public, clinical and administrative areas at the Health Science Campus.

You will follow department policies, attend safety trainings, and perform tasks with attention to detail during the 12:00am–8:30am shift. This role requires standing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs and using wet mops as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent or custodial experience.
• Able to read, understand, and follow written instructions, and comprehend verbal instructions given in English.
• Age-Specific Competency: Able to differentiate and appropriately handle situations involving patients, visitors, and family members in various age groups.
• Physical Effort Required: Able to stand for long periods, stoop, kneel and reach with no restrictions.
• Able to use a 16- or 24-ounce wet mop for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and services patient, public, clinical, academic and administrative areas as directed by management.
• Executes tasks and assignments in a thorough, professional manner to assure a clean, attractive, safe environment with minimal interference to others.
• Adheres to hospital policies and ICare standards at all times.
• Addresses patient safety, performance improvement, and quality of care issues at all times.
• Reports safety issues and incidents promptly.
