Acupath Laboratories Inc. in Plainview, NY is seeking Histotechnicians/Grossing technicians for the 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM shift. The role involves receiving specimens, data entry in the LIS, labeling cassettes, and performing QC/QA, with emphasis on safety and confidentiality.

Required is a Bachelor's in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent and NYSED licensure; 2–5 years’ experience preferred. ASCP certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution or equivalent.
• Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist, Technician, Histotechnician, Pathologists Assistant or equivalent.
• 2–5 years’ work experience preferred.
• ASCP certification preferred.

Responsabilités

• Receives specimens in the grossing laboratory.
• Enters patient information into the laboratory information system, verifying identification.
• Labels cassettes with accession numbers.
• Performs quality control and quality assurance procedures, such as preventive maintenance and temperature checks.
• Maintains a clean and well-organized work area.
• Adheres to CAP, CLIA, state regulations, HIPAA, safety, and OSHA requirements.
