Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to support our Durham mine operations on the night shift (8 PM–6 AM). The role involves operating haul trucks and other mobile equipment, performing pre-shift inspections, and assisting with plant maintenance and cleanup.

Candidates should have at least a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license, with 1 year of heavy equipment experience preferred. English communication on radio/CB and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience operating heavy mobile equipment.
• Bi-lingual is a plus.
• Must read equipment operating manual.
• Must communicate in English on radio or CB.
• Possess basic mathematical aptitude to complete daily reports.
• Must wear all required safety equipment.
• Must perform duties safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile heavy equipment (haul truck, motor grader, water truck, loader, crane) to move materials safely.
• Assist in plant repairs and clean-up.
• Perform pre-shift safety inspections on equipment.
• Report needed repairs to shop personnel.
• Maintain good housekeeping of equipment.
• Adhere to MSHA and plant safety rules and regulations.
• Support night shift maintenance crew (80% maintenance, 20% equipment).
