Job summary

Hallett Materials, a CRH Company, is seeking a Mechanic for night shift in Johnston, Iowa. You will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and diagnose and repair trucks, tractors, trailers and heavy construction equipment in accordance with safety standards.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and 1-3 years’ heavy truck/equipment experience. A valid driver’s license and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years’ experience in heavy truck and equipment preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect machines to diagnose defects.
• Troubleshoot problems and perform durable repairs.
• Dismantle and reassemble equipment with hoists and hand tools.
• Examine parts for wear using micrometers and gauges.
• Replace engines and subassemblies such as transmissions, pumps, and gears.
• Test overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
• Keep time and parts records.
• Plan work procedures and solutions.
• Clean work areas and maintenance spaces.
• Support other maintenance staff as needed.
