Job summary

Mars is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to support plant and facility operations with strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills. The role covers troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance for manufacturing equipment, with emphasis on safety, GMP, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has several years in food manufacturing maintenance, welding and fabrication capabilities, and experience reading schematics.

Qualifications

2+ years in food manufacturing maintenance.
4 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic.
PLC experience is a plus.
Rotating 12-hour shift incl weekends and overtime.
Ability to follow manufacturing specs and schematics.
Knowledge of food-grade aluminum and stainless-steel welding.
Experience with fabrication techniques.
Electrical knowledge and packing machinery experience a plus.

Responsibilities

Install, troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment (conveyors, forming, ovens).
Follow OSHA rules and wear PPE in an industrial environment.
Diagnose problems, replace parts, test and adjust high-speed production equipment.
Diagnose and repair electrical functions.
Prioritize and triage in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain equipment per diagrams and manufacturer specs; run PMs.
Generate work orders and parts requests.
Fabricate parts or modifications using machine tools when needed.
Complete work orders and PM documentation.
Understand pneumatic, hydraulic, and water systems; use related tools.
Operate forklifts, scissor lifts and related equipment.
Maintain GMP, safety, and food safety knowledge through training.
