Job summary

The City of Omaha is seeking an Automotive Servicer for the Fleet Management - Truck Shop, night shift. This full-time role assists mechanics and performs routine maintenance on light to heavy equipment, keeping records and ordering parts as needed.

Applicants must meet basic education requirements and may substitute ASE certification for experience. A valid CDL A with N endorsement and other qualifications are required by probation; forklift and Hoisting certificates also needed by end of

Qualifications

• Knowledge of vehicle lubrication, tire repair, and battery charging procedures.
• Knowledge of major mechanical parts and their functions.
• Awareness of safety hazards and precautions for work with vehicles/equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs minor maintenance and preventative repairs on light and heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Inspects vehicles for servicing needs.
• Assists mechanics with equipment repairs.
• Makes service calls to return equipment to service.
• Orders and picks up parts.
• Maintains computerized records and logs.
• Maintains tools and shop areas.
• Maintains regular attendance per supervisor schedule.
• Performs other related duties within scope.
