Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Fiber Optic Applications Technician to support R&D and production fibers for the SPARC fusion machine. You will splice, test, route, and integrate thousands of fibers while maintaining safety and quality in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team.

The role requires 4+ years in fiber optics, experience with OTDR/OSA/OBR measurements, and ability to train others. Night shift 6:00 pm–6:00 am, Fri–Sun; pay $38–$48/hour plus a 30% differential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years experience in fiber optics field applications.
• Experience with attenuation, insertion loss, and spectral analysis measurements.
• Must have experience fiber handling in a lab setting with known standards.

Responsibilities

• Handle, route, splice, test thousands of fibers in the SPARC fusion machine.
• Mechanical integration of small assemblies with fiber work.
• Install wrappings for fibers and their enclosures.
• Train technicians in installation, splicing, routing and measurement procedures.
• Improve safety protocols for laser and fiber optic handling.
• Fulfill manufacturing and R&D fiber needs.
