Job summary

Bluegrass Veterinary Specialists + Animal Emergency in Lexington, Kentucky seeks an ER Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, maintain equipment, restrain and care for patients, and perform clerical duties. The role offers exposure to ER care in a leading referral hospital with round-the-clock services.

Responsibilities include triage, patient handling, medications, lab work, radiographs, and communicating with clients while promoting our hospital products and services.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
• 2-3 years of experience in an ER setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and their owners, weigh and record vital signs on arrival.
• Triage patients, assist with exams, treatments and medication administration by licensed staff.
• Calm and soothe anxious patients; assist doctors and technicians with procedures.
• Maintain medical records and ensure proper documentation and safety of medications.
