Job summary

Adventist Health Portland in Portland, OR is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to assist the RN and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments under supervision. You will document care, monitor patient status and manage equipment to support daily nursing operations.

The role requires basic EMS-related certifications; CPR/BLS is required, EMT/CNA/Paramedic credentials are preferred, and phlebotomy credentials are a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Education/GED or equivalent required.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred.
• EMT Certification: Preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification required per AH policy.
• CNA, CMA or Paramedic certification: Preferred.
• Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: Required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
• Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position. Assists in cost containment through appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
• Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care. Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes to the RN, MD/Provider.
• Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
• Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations. Records and collects specimens.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education
