Halifax Health in Deltona is seeking a Night Shift Charge Nurse for the Emergency Department. The role provides supervision and leadership for the nursing unit, ensuring safe, competent, compassionate care within multidisciplinary teams.

The Charge Nurse coordinates staffing, assigns duties for shifts, and participates in hourly rounds, addressing issues on the floor with a focus on quality and adherence to policies and ANA standards.

Qualifications

• Florida RN licensure currently active or eligible.
• BSN or healthcare-related degree required, or enrollment in BSN program.
• Minimum of 5 years of recent clinical experience.
• 1 year of charge nurse experience required.
• Specialty certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, etc.) required by department.
• Experience with the Meditech electronic health record preferred.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills with patients, families, colleagues, physicians and staff required.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and leadership to the nursing care unit for the shift.
• Complete staffing and nursing assignments for current and upcoming shift; participate in hourly rounding.
• Act as on-the-ground leader to assess day-to-day situations and initiate actions.
• Ensure nursing care aligns with Halifax Health policies and ANA Standards of Practice.
• Delegate tasks to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel and Licensed Practical Nurses as appropriate.
