Job summary

SONOCO CANADA in Suffolk, VA seeks a maintenance technician for a 3rd shift (11pm-7am) with training on the 1st shift (7am-3pm). Pay starts at $39.83 per hour with a $0.55 per hour shift differential. Safety‑conscious performance on industrial machinery is essential.

You will inspect, dismantle, and service components, troubleshoot pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems, and operate welding equipment, lathe, and milling machines. Overtime/night shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of maintenance experience on industrial machinery in manufacturing.
• Strong pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electrical understanding.
• Experience setting up/operating welding equipment, lathe, milling and shop tools.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting tools (multimeter, etc.) familiarity with Allen-Bradley PLCs is desirable.
• Willingness to overtime and night shift; able to work with multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Comply with plant safety requirements and participate in safety program.
• Use tools, materials, and test equipment safely and efficiently.
• Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts.
• Inspect parts for dimensional changes and proper function.
• Develop and implement projects to completion with minimal direction.
