Job summary

University of Missouri-Kansas City is seeking a Custodian II to maintain a clean and orderly environment across campus facilities. The role covers routine cleaning, event setup, minor repairs, and emergency support on a night shift from 10:00pm to 6:30am, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and write.
• A valid driver’s license may be required for certain positions.
• One year of general maintenance and/or custodial experience preferred.
• Some knowledge of methods for cleaning equipment and buildings; mechanical ability for minor repair of equipment.
• Ability daily to: Visualize work area and determine what tasks need to be performed, bend, squat, reach, stretch, walk, stand, sit, grasp and twist repeatedly, climb stairs, step stools, and ladders; lift, carry, and set down objects of 25–50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Care and cleaning of buildings including garages, offices, classrooms, entryways, and restrooms.
• Sweep, mop floors, empty trash, dust furniture, clean windows and other cleaning duties.
• May prepare rooms for meetings by setting up chairs, tables and equipment.
• May occasionally fabricate simple fixtures or assist in fabrication of more complicated apparatus.
• Provide support for emergency responses and large moves/events.
• Perform building security duties and report repairs as needed.
