Job summary

The Custodian will report to the Custodial Supervisor at San JoseCity College. The work schedule is 12 months per year; Monday through Thursday; 8:00 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. and Friday, 2:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m. A 5% night shift differential will be added to the salary.

This position is represented by the California School Employees Association (CSEA), Chapter 363, and involves cleaning, maintenance and setup of classrooms, offices and facilities to keep them safe and sanitary.

Qualifications

• Completion of formal or informal education which assures the ability to read, write and speak at the level sufficient for successful job performance.
• Experience in building or related cleaning work.
• Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, scrub, mop, wash, polish, strip and wax floors using various machines.
• Operate a hot water pressure cleaner for floor cleaning.
• Maintain restrooms, cafeterias, offices and related facilities.
• Turn out lights, lock doors and windows, and set alarms for security.
• Lift, carry, and move heavy objects as needed.
