Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope in Texas is seeking a Controls Technician for night shifts to keep production equipment running safely and efficiently. This role focuses on diagnosing electrical issues, maintaining PLC-controlled systems, and responding to emergencies.

You will work with 480VAC/120VAC/24VDC, use Rockwell Studio 5000 for basic logic, and follow strict electrical safety protocols. The job emphasizes reliability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED required; technical training preferred.
  • Experience in industrial or heavy manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, PLC controls, and Rockwell Studio 5000.
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently under pressure and work night/on‑call shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose electrical issues on 480VAC/120VAC/24VDC.
  • Maintain and repair PLCs, drives, sensors, and control panels.
  • Use Studio 5000 for basic logic and fault analysis.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and follow electrical safety protocols.
  • Document work performed and support reliability improvements.

What you get to do in Maintenance nights:

The Controls Technician provides after‑hours technical support to keep production equipment running safely and efficiently. This role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical and industrial control systems—particularly PLC‑controlled equipment—during night‑shift operations. Responsibilities include diagnosing electrical issues (480VAC/120VAC/24VDC), resolving problems with PLCs, drives, sensors, and control panels, and using Studio 5000 for basic logic and fault analysis. The technician responds to emergency breakdowns, follows strict electrical safety protocols, communicates status updates to operations teams, documents all work performed, and contributes to reliability and continuous improvement efforts.

What we are looking for:

  • High school diploma/GED required; technical training preferred
  • Experience in industrial or heavy manufacturing environments
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, PLC controls, and Rockwell Studio 5000
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently under pressure and work night/on‑call shifts

Preferred:

  • Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs, VFDs, servos, HMIs, and Ethernet/IP
  • Familiarity with LOTO and electrical safe‑work practices

Key Competencies:

Electrical/controls troubleshooting, problem‑solving, urgency, strong communication, documentation skills, and independence during off‑shift hours.
