Job summary

Real Performance Machinery in Independence, VA seeks a skilled CNC Machinist and Setup Specialist to set up and operate Mazak 6800 HMC and large-format Bridge Mills for high-precision machining of heavy components.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of CNC setup experience, proficiency with Mazak/Mazatrol, and strong GD&T skills. The role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and overhead crane operation, with a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of CNC machining and setup experience.
• Experience with Mazak 6800 (Mazatrol/Fanuc) and Bridge Mills.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate overhead cranes safely.
• High school diploma or equivalent; machinist degree or certificate is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Mazak 6800 HMC and Bridge Mills.
• Load and align raw materials and large weldments using cranes and hoists.
• Select and set proper cutting tools, fixtures, and inserts.
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T symbols accurately.
• Edit CNC programs (G-code/M-code) at the machine console.
• Inspect first-article parts using micrometers, calipers, and bore gauges.
• Optimize machining processes to improve cycle times and tool life.
• Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure daily operational safety.
