Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Machinist – Night Shift to independently set up and operate machining equipment, reading advanced blueprints, loading tooling, and creating simple CNC programs for complex parts with high precision. You will verify tooling, use calipers and micrometers for inspection, and contribute to safety and productivity during the night shift.

You will mentor teammates, participate in continuous improvement, and engage in goal setting and performance reviews while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret advanced blueprints for complex machining.
• Verify and load tooling and accurately entering tool data into machine controls.
• Create complex part setups using a variety of tools, fixtures, and devices.
• Read, understand, write, and edit simple CNC programs.
• Fluency with measurement devices, including calipers and micrometers, for precise inspection.
• Strong understanding of machine controls, axis movement, and their impact on machining operations.
• Good knowledge of feed rates and spindle speeds and how to adjust them for different materials and operations.
• Capability to run new parts with minimal guidance while maintaining quality standards.
• Ability to effectively train and coach other employees in machining practices and procedures.
• Skill in recognizing and documenting patterns in processes and problems to support troubleshooting.
• Commitment to promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture within the team.
• Understanding and application of 5S principles as part of continuous improvement.
• Strong accountability for following instructions, routines, and processes to achieve consistent results.
• Clear, courteous, effective, and honest communication skills with team members and others.
• Reliability in attendance, punctuality, and staying engaged throughout the assigned shift.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints to plan machining operations accurately.
• Verify and load tooling, enter tool data correctly, and ensure tools are prepared for production.
• Create complex part setups using all available tools, fixtures, and devices to optimize processes.
• Read, understand, write, and edit simple CNC programs to support efficient production.
• Operate machining equipment with a solid understanding of machine controls and axis movement.
• Apply knowledge of feed rates and spindle speeds to achieve optimal cutting performance.
• Run new parts that may be unfamiliar, ensuring accuracy from the start.
• Use measurement devices fluently to inspect and verify part dimensions.
• Perform thorough inspections and document results to maintain quality.
• Recognize, document, and analyze patterns to support troubleshooting and improvement.
• Train and mentor employees on machining practices, safety, and quality standards.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture and 5S in the work area.
• Follow established procedures and participate in huddles and performance reviews.
• Arrive on time for scheduled shifts and contribute to productivity.
• Set a positive example with energy and reliability.
