Job summary

Unity Psychiatric Care in Martin, TN is seeking a Mental Health Technician for full-time night shift (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM). You will provide direct patient care under nurse supervision, helping with daily living tasks and creating a safe, therapeutic environment for patients with geriatrics in crisis.

CNA certification is required, with CPI and CPR trainings to follow. Experience in mental health or geriatric settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• One to two years’ experience in a mental health, patient care, or geriatric setting preferred.
• CNA Certification is required.
• CPI Certification will be trained at the next available class; until then, staff will be supervised by CPI certified personnel.
• CPR Certification will be trained at the next available class; until then, staff will be supervised by CPR certified personnel.
• CMS Restraint and Seclusion training (or prior training) with yearly refreshers.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of nurses, including assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and assist with crisis intervention.
• Complete admission paperwork and patient orientation to the hospital.
• Monitor patients and report assessments to supervisor.
• Transport patients and equipment as needed.
• Assist with recreational and therapeutic activities for patients.
