Job summary

WorkCare, Inc. is seeking a full-time night shift Medical Assistant (MA) to join our on-site clinic in New York.

The MA will provide drug and alcohol testing, perform clinical and administrative duties under the oversight of the Onsite Clinic Manager (RN), Program Manager, Clinic Manager/NP, and Consulting Medical Director, and support workers’ compensation case management. Schedule: Night Shift; Monday - Friday 4:00pm - 12:00am.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent with 2+ years of related experience
• CMA credential and basic medical terminology knowledge
• Current BLS certification
• Valid driver’s license required
• 1–3 years healthcare experience preferred
• DOT drug and alcohol testing/occupational health experience preferred
• Phlebotomy certification preferred
• Willingness to obtain HIPAA certification upon hire
• Knowledge of medical terminology and reporting to perform office and clinical duties

Responsibilities

• Oral fluid, urine drug and breath alcohol collection; DOT testing standards
• Perform diagnostic testing: vital signs, EKG, audiogram, PFT, vision, respirator fit testing
• Wellness testing and counseling (diet, exercise, tobacco cessation)
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist during exams
• Record vital signs and patient histories
• Answer phones, greet patients, manage correspondence; appointments and records
• Assist in workers’ compensation case management; other duties as identified by manager
