Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489.
• Education evaluated as equivalent to a US Bachelor's degree in a lab science or medical technology.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complicated laboratory procedures in the primary section to which assigned.
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Cross-train to other laboratory sections as needed.
• Ensures that the laboratory's quality control program is properly followed.
• Calculates, enters, and verifies results of laboratory procedures.
• Utilizes the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Provides notification and documentation of critical laboratory values.
• Processes patient specimens with attention to pediatric volumes when required.
• Participates in evaluating and implementing new testing procedures and protocols.
• Adapts patient care responsibilities to population-specific needs.
• Adheres to CHRISTUS Health CORE values and completes compliance tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
