Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions is seeking a Chemical Operator to produce chemical batches in a strict compliance environment. You will follow SOPs, operate reactors, tanks, pumps, meters and related equipment, handling hazardous materials while maintaining precise process logs.

You will contribute to safety, quality and continuous improvement, participate in HSE training, and support shift operations during a 10:00 PM–6:30 AM schedule. Prior batch chemical experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of applicable experience; chemical manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Must be able to work 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
• Experience with manufacturing specialty chemicals using batch processes.
• Experience working in a clean-room environment will be a plus.
• Forklift certification and Hazardous Waste Operations certification preferable.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; convey technical information effectively and concisely to engineering, sales, technicians, etc.

Responsibilities

• Work from written procedures to process, purify, and chemically fabricate products and their compounds through a sequence of batch operations.
• Operate equipment, including reactors, tanks, pumps, mixers, pH meters, level meters, flow meters, valves, and hoses used in the manufacture of said products.
• Handle liquid and solid chemicals using pumps, scales and flow meters. Weigh, measure and check raw materials and finished product to ensure that batches manufactured contain proper ingredients and quantities and that accurate inventory is maintained.
• Perform product weighing, packaging, labeling, and boxing operations in accordance with SOP's.
• Collect process samples and interface with laboratory personnel for analysis.
• Maintain required log sheets including but not limited to batch tickets, packaging sheets, scrubber operation log, pH meter calibration, and equipment inspections.
• Attend required HSE training including Hazardous Waste Management, emergency response, and Hazard Communication, and demonstrate an acceptable level of understanding of topics.
• Package, mark, and label Hazardous Waste containers.
• Operate equipment and follow procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, OHSA'S 18001 standards.
• Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in work area.
• Communicate with shift leader regarding safety, production, quality, or any other operational issues. Actively participate in shift meetings to assist in work planning and continuous improvement.
• Train other chemical operators in operations, processes, and procedures as needed to ensure efficiencies, safety, and compliance.
• Other duties as assigned.
