Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a Night Shift Cell Operations Supervisor to lead the landfill working face, directing operators and laborers, managing waste placement, compaction, grading, cover, traffic flow, and safety. You will coordinate with site teams to maintain waste flow, enforce procedures, and ensure productive, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.
• 5+ years in landfill/solid-waste/heavy-industrial operations; direct landfill working-face experience preferred.
• 3+ years leading employees or shifts, assigning work and monitoring performance.
• Experience with landfill cell operations: waste placement, compaction, grading, cover, haul-road maintenance, traffic control, and safe operation around heavy equipment.
• Experience operating dozers, landfill compactors, excavators, loaders, haul trucks, and related equipment preferred.
• Ability to read fill plans, site maps, grades, and operating procedures; knowledge of OSHA and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead night-shift cell and working-face operations, assign work, direct personnel, and follow up with operators and support staff.
• Review fill plans, priorities, staffing, and equipment; adjust plan as conditions change.
• Direct waste placement, compaction, grading, and cover per plan and airspace requirements.
• Maintain safe truck flow at working face; manage dumping locations and vehicle movements.
• Monitor working-face width, lift depth, compaction, grades, and access to meet production and safety targets.
• Ensure haul roads, pads, and lighting meet night-operation needs; coordinate corrective work for weather or visibility issues.
• Enforce safety rules, PPE usage, and safe-work practices; stop work when unsafe.
• Coordinate with Maintenance for inspections and repairs affecting production or safety.
• Coordinate with Rail, Gondola, Scale, Maintenance, Safety, and Environmental teams to maintain waste flow and resolve conflicts.
