Job summary

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a Supervisor of Cell Operations to lead the night-shift at the landfill site. You will direct operators and laborers, manage waste placement, compaction, and daily cover, and ensure safe, efficient operations.

The role requires strong field leadership, excellent judgment, and knowledge of landfill operations. You will coordinate with multiple site teams and uphold safety, environmental, and permit requirements while maintaining performance goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of landfill, solid-waste, heavy-equipment, construction, aggregate, mining, recycling, or a comparable heavy-industrial operation experience preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience leading employees or coordinating an operating shift.
• Working knowledge of landfill cell operations and safe operation around heavy equipment.
• Experience operating or directing dozers, landfill compactors, excavators, loaders, haul trucks, water trucks, or similar equipment preferred.
• Ability to read fill plans, site maps, grades, elevations, procedures, and shift instructions.
• Must follow OSHA requirements and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead night-shift cell and working-face operations with assignments and direction.
• Review fill plans, priorities, staffing, equipment, and site conditions; adjust plans as needed.
• Direct waste placement, compaction, grading and daily cover per plan.
• Maintain safe truck flow and traffic at the working face with clear directions.
• Coordinate with Rail, Gondola Operations, Scale, Maintenance, Safety, and Environmental teams.
• Supervise attendance, breaks, overtime, and performance coaching.
• Provide onboarding and training for new and existing staff.
• Record shift performance and communicate with day-shift supervisors and Director.
