Job summary

UNC Health Care is seeking a Per Diem Nursing Assistant I to provide safe, supportive care on a behavioral health unit. You will assist with admission, orientation, and routine activities of daily living.

You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse to implement the plan of care and support therapeutic interventions. The role requires CPPI and BLS certifications, RN collaboration, and strong communication with patients and families.

Qualifications

• One year of relavent experience in a behavioral health environment.
• CPI certification within 60 days from date of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Licensed Nursing Assistant I credential as listed by NC DHHS.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in orientation and admission tasks, support plan of care development under RN supervision.
• Provide direct personal care and monitor vital signs per plan of care.
• Lead small group activities and support therapeutic milieu on the unit.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition to supervising RN or physician.
• Provide patient education materials and reinforce instructions from care team.
• Support safety by handling de-escalation and necessary restraints within policy.
