Job summary

Hexcel Corporation seeks an Automation Controls Technician for the night shift at our Salt Lake City, UT location. The role focuses on PLC-based control systems, DCS/HMI programming, VFDs, instrumentation calibration, and documentation to support reliable, safe operations.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 1+ year of automation experience, and ability to work a 12-hour night schedule on a rotating 3/4 shift. An Associate degree is preferred, with AutoCAD experience a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED; an Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Automation, Instrumentation, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 1+ years of experience with automation and process controls.
• Ability to work nights on rotating 3/4 schedule (12-hour shifts) including weekends.
• Experience creating/modifying electrical and control system drawings using AutoCAD or similar software preferred.
• Experience with industrial automation, process control systems, and manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, program, integrate, install, modify, and upgrade PLC-based control systems (Rockwell, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Parker, GE).
• Develop and troubleshoot DCS, HMI/MMI programming and configuration.
• Configure, commission, modify, upgrade, and troubleshoot VFDs for optimal performance.
• Calibrate instrumentation devices and provide technical training to electricians.
• Maintain monitoring devices for process automation and performance.
• Support controls-related projects and root-cause analysis with engineering teams.
• Implement and troubleshoot web tension control systems to support production quality.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering to resolve equipment issues.
• Maintain documentation of control systems and changes.
