Job summary

UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, NM seeks an Advanced Practice Provider for overnight coverage in the observation unit. The role involves admissions, patient care planning, and collaboration with a nocturnist physician to ensure high-quality care during the night shift.

Responsibilities include clinical assessments, orders, rounds, and education for patients and families. Structured onboarding is provided, with a focus on teamwork and innovative service delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience in acute care settings and observation units preferred.
• Overnight coverage and patient admissions within scope of practice.
• Onboarding provided to support new team members.

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and develop treatment plans; manage patient care within scope.
• Perform history and physicals for procedures or admissions; document findings.
• Complete orders, rounds, consults, and discharge summaries for patient care.
• Perform invasive and non-invasive procedures; interpret diagnostics.
• Explain procedures to patients and families; obtain necessary consent.
• Review and revise care plans with patient and family as needed.
• Educate patients/families on preventive care and medications.
• Document care accurately in the medical record and communicate with team.
• Collaborate with medical, nursing, and counseling staff for continuity of care.
• Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for staff; participate in education.
