Job summary

Shepherd’s House Ministries in Bend, OR seeks an Overnight Safety Monitor to keep the Men’s Center safe overnight, engaging guests with trauma-informed care and de-escalation. You will patrol, secure entrances, and coordinate with staff to ensure a calm, supportive environment.

The role reports to the Program Manager and requires a HS diploma, reliability, and the ability to work independently within a team, including occasional on-call shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in shelter or social services preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage diverse individuals.
• Familiarity with trauma-informed care and de-escalation.
• Reliable, punctual, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills and data entry.
• Pass background checks per policy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a welcoming, safe environment for guests.
• Patrol the facility and respond to safety concerns.
• Secure entrances/exits and monitor access points overnight.
• Prepare site for overnight operations and daytime transition.
• Respond to medical, behavioral, and facility emergencies following protocols.
• Engage participants with trauma-informed practices to maintain calm.
• Enforce shelter guidelines and document incidents.
• Coordinate with staff and security partners; assist front desk as needed.
• Support operations with administrative tasks.
