Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse License, in the state of Maine, BSN preferred.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required.
• ACLS and BLS (PALS desired) may be needed for Critical Care/ED.

Responsibilities

• Obtains nursing history, performs nursing assessment and develops plan of care for patients.
• Performs head-to-toe assessment and reassessments as per policy for adult, geriatric and general patient population.
• Prioritizes care in high-acuity situations and maintains patient safety.
• Administers medications following the five rights and minimizes medication errors.
• Assists physicians with procedures and performs procedures requiring technical skills.
• Starts peripheral IVs and cares for post-surgical patients.
• Communicates with patients, families, and the health team to provide age-appropriate care and information.
• Engages in performance improvement and CQI activities and collaborates with other departments.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Current RN license in Maine (BSN preferred)

BLS required (AHA)
