Job summary

The RN Clinical Charge Nurse at Wellstar Health System, Inc. directs and oversees daily unit activities on an assigned night shift to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.

This role serves as a frontline leader, balancing hands-on nursing with coordination, staffing, and interdepartmental collaboration to support our Shared Governance model. Responsibilities include organizing patient flow, supervising staff, rounding with physicians, and maintaining documentation and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor equipment inventory and ensure staff have tools to perform their job.
• Plan resources and assist in staffing during shortages or census surges.
• Develop care protocols with care managers to achieve best practice outcomes.
• Make patient assignments and manage bed flow in conjunction with the Surgery Schedule.
• Round with physicians and surgeons and coordinate documentation for safe patient care.
• Promote patient safety and deliver patient-centered care through effective communication and teamwork.
