Requirements include a current state license as a Respiratory Therapist, CPR certification, and experience with respiratory techniques and equipment.

Qualifications

• Must be CPR certified.
• Geriatric or rehabilitative nursing experience preferred.
• Current valid license as a Respiratory Therapist in the state of practice.
• Thorough knowledge of respiratory techniques and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Meets resident goals by conducting pulmonary function tests and planning therapy in consultation with physicians.
• Administers inhalants and operates ventilators, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
• Monitors patient responses (vital signs, ABG) and adjusts treatment as needed.
• Completes discharge planning and educates patients and families for home programs.
• Documents resident care in charts and coordinates with nurses, physicians, and other health care workers.
• Supports respiratory services across the facility and assists in surveys and inspections as required.
